Some USCIS Offices Will Re-Open Beginning June 4

May 27, 2020

The USCIS announced today that beginning June 4 it will re-open some of its local offices and Application Support Centers for in-person appointments and interviews. The agency did not indicate which specific offices will re-open on that date, but directed individuals to its website of office closings for updated information.

The USCIS stated they will reduce the number of appointments and interviews to ensure physical distancing, reduce waiting room occupancy and allow time for cleaning. They will also institute safety precautions, such as requiring face masks (which will be briefly removed to confirm identity or take photographs), erecting physical barriers, and recommending visitors to bring their own black or blue ink pens.

Individuals whose previously scheduled biometrics appointments and interviews were cancelled due to the COVID-19 closures will automatically be rescheduled and receive a new appointment notice in the mail. Others needing an in-person appointment should reschedule via the USCIS Contact Center once the local offices re-open.

If you have any questions about cancelled appointments or interviews, please contact Weaver Schlenger.
