Trump Administration Delays and Will Likely Cancel Entrepreneur Parole
July 11, 2017
Today, the Trump Administration announced it would delay and seek comment on withdrawing a rule which would have allowed entrepreneurs starting businesses to temporarily enter and work in the United States. President Obama finalized the “entrepreneur visa” rule in the final days of his administration, and it would have gone into effect this month.
Under the rule, entrepreneurs who receive substantial funding from recognized venture capital firms, investors or government grants to start businesses would have been permitted to come to the U.S. for 30 months initially to start their companies. They would have been eligible for one renewal period upon showing that the business is meeting the criteria of rapid growth and job creation.
