Kirsten Schlenger Interviewed in Daily Journal
June 27, 2017
In today’s edition of the San Francisco Daily Journal, partner Kirsten Schlenger was interviewed relating to the U.S. Supreme Court decision to review President Trump’s second Executive Order later this year, and the reinstatement of portions of that ban.
The Supreme Court said that the ban (affecting nationals of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen) will not apply to individuals with a “bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States.” Whether a bona fide relationship exists will be up to the discretion of U.S. Consulate and Customs and Border Patrol officials. Noting the lack of guidance, Ms. Schlenger said the government will “want to leave themselves maximum discretion.”
