Online registration for State Department’s DV 2017 Program begins on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Daylight Time and concludes on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 12:00 noon, Eastern Standard Time

The State Department just released its instructions for the DV 2017 Lottery for a chance to secure one of the 50,000 green cards available this next fiscal year for winners who can make it across the green card finish line by September 30, 2016 via an interview. Note the Department of State’s FAQs are helpful in providing guidance throughout the process.
There are no changes to last year’s program. Individuals from the following countries are NOT eligible to apply because more than 50,000 nationals of these countries immigrated to the U.S. in the previous 5 years: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam.
Note: Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan remain eligible.
