WSM Attorneys to Attend Event with President Obama

Senior Associate Lisa Baker Jones and Associate Stephanie Smith will attend an event on Monday at the Betty Ong Recreation Center in San Francisco, California, on the importance of taking action to pass commonsense immigration reform. Lisa and Stephanie are attending in their capacity as the Chapter Chair and Advocacy Co-Coordinator for the American Immigration Lawyers Association of Northern California, respectively.

Witnessing President Obama's respectful handling of a heckler at yesterday's speech in San Francisco on immigration reform, our attorneys found it a shining moment in an otherwise troubled second term presidency. The heckler appealed to President Obama to invoke an executive order to stop deportation, while the President maintained that the government must not violate existing laws but go through our democratic system of government to change immigration law.
