WSM Attorneys Rise as Leaders within AILA NorCal

Next week's annual conference of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), to be hosted in San Francisco from June 26 to 29, comes at the height of immigration debate in Congress. WSM will be in the thick of it. WSM is proud of its associates' leadership roles within AILA. Senior Associate Lisa Baker Jones is now Chair of the Northern California chapter of AILA (AILA NorCal), effective July 1. Associates Stephanie C. Smith and Katy Chase continue to serve on AILA NorCal's Advisory Council, with Stephanie as Advocacy Co-Coordinator and Katy as Media Coordinator.
AILA NorCal currently has more than 700 members. AILA is a national association of more than 11,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law. AILA member attorneys represent U.S. businesses seeking talent from the global marketplace, as well as U.S. families seeking permanent residence for close family members. AILA members also represent foreign students, entertainers, athletes and asylum seekers, often on a pro bono basis. Founded in 1946, AILA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that provides continuing legal education, information, professional services and expertise through its 38 chapters and more than 50 national committees.
