Senior Associate Lisa Baker Jones Elected Chair of Northern California AILA Chapter

Last night, the Northern California chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA NorCal) elected WSM attorney Lisa Baker Jones as chapter Chair, a role she will officially assume in July. After taking on her first leadership role with AILA in 2007, as New Membership Division Co-Liaison, Ms. Baker Jones steadily climbed the ranks within the organization. She will lead the 700-member AILA NorCal chapter at a pivotal moment in time, as comprehensive immigration reform appears more likely to happen in the coming year than it has in decades.
Ms. Baker Jones has spent the past year as Vice Chair of the organization, which has kept her busy speaking at various AILA conferences, representing AILA in advocacy efforts and urging Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
The American Immigration Lawyers Association is a national association of more than 11,000 attorneys and law professors who practice and teach immigration law. AILA member attorneys represent U.S. businesses seeking talent from the global marketplace, as well as U.S. families seeking permanent residence for close family members. AILA members also represent foreign students, entertainers, athletes and asylum seekers, often on a pro bono basis. Founded in 1946, AILA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that provides continuing legal education, information, professional services and expertise through its 38 chapters and more than 50 national committees.
