Pelosi Introduces House Immigration Reform Bill in Midst of Shutdown
October 4, 2013 | Tags: AILA
Hats off to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for leading House Democrats in introducing an immigration reform bill October 2 despite the government shutdown. As of October 4, the bill had 152 co-sponsors, all Democrats. However, Republican leadership ultimately will have control over which bills make it to the House floor for a vote. H.R. 15, the "Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act," is modeled on bipartisan Senate bill S.744.
AILA has posted the bill in its entirety on its website, along with the highlights of the press conference introducing the bill.
