Impending Elimination of Paper I-94s

March 22, 2013

On March 21, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sent to the Federal Register a rule which will automate the Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record which international visitors receive upon admission to the U.S. Once this rule is published in the Federal Register, it will take effect 30 days later. The rule will eliminate the need for visitors to complete a paper form. Rather, the record of lawful admission, temporary visa status and employment authorization (if applicable) will be stored electronically. Anyone wishing to obtain a written record of admission can download the Form I-94 from a government website. We will post more information once this rule has been published in the Federal Register.
