WSM Attorneys Take on New Roles in AILA and AIC
June 13, 2012
WSM attorneys continue to volunteer their time in professional associations to contribute to the immigration law community and enrich their practices.
Senior Associate Lisa Baker Jones steps into her new role this month as Vice Chair of AILA NorCal, the Northern California chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Ms. Baker Jones has served as the chapter's Secretary for the past year, and prior to that was Treasurer. Associate Katy Chase will continue to serve as Media Coordinator for AILA NorCal, a role she has held since 2009, while Associate Stephanie C. Smith will continue in her role as Advocacy Coordinator for the chapter. AILA NorCal has more than 700 immigration attorney members in the region.
After two immensely productive years, managing partner Kirsten Schlenger completes her two year position as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the American Immigration Council (AIC). Prior to becoming Chair, Ms. Schlenger served for two years as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees and eight years as a Trustee. She has taken great professional fulfillment in leading the Board of Trustees during such a significant period of growth and development for the AIC. In each role, she was able to contribute her expertise to effect real change within the organization.
Ms. Schlenger will join the AIC alumni group and will remain active in the Northern California AIC group. Ms. Chase and Ms. Smith also participate in this local AIC group. The AIC strengthens America by honoring our immigrant history and shaping how Americans think about and act towards immigration. AIC programs include the Community Education Center, Immigration Policy Center, International Exchange Center and Legal Action Center.
