WSM Advocacy on Immigration Issues Affecting Employers with 500 Employees or Less
June 9, 2011
On June 7, 2011, WSM attorneys Laura Mazel, Stephanie Smith and Flora Hoffman attended a meeting with Congressman Mike Honda, Dr. Winslow Sargeant, Chief Counsel of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Committee Chairs of President Obama's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans to discuss how current USCIS decision-making on H-1B petitions stymies business growth and entrepreneurship in the United States. Our firm provided the Congressman and others with critical insights on the problems small businesses face in securing H-1B visas for their professional employees. We have been asked to develop proposed solutions for improving the current adjudicative framework in order to enable more entrepreneurship and growth for U.S. employers seeking to hire foreign talent.
