FY H-1B Numbers Likely to Run Out Within Next Week
November 22, 2011
Only a few thousand FY H-1B numbers remain, with about 5000 FY H-1B visa petitions received by the USCIS between November 14 through November 18. The USCIS reported today that as of November 18, it has received 61,800 subject cases. There are no more MS degree numbers available. When the government closes off the last day it will accept FY H-1B filings, it historically holds a "lottery" to randomly select FY cases for further processing. Employers will be in limbo until receipts are issued. When FY H-1B numbers are exhausted, employers will need to wait to file until April 1 for H-1B start dates of October 1, 2012, the beginning of the 2013 fiscal year.
