Fall Developments: E-Verify Extension; 2010 Diversity Lottery Registration Period Now Open

E-Verify Extended Through March 6, 2009
• On September 30, 2008 the President signed into law an appropriations bill that, among other items, provides additional funding for the E-Verify program until March 6, 2009. This funding effectively extends the E-Verify program through that date.
2010 Diversity Visa Lottery Program Registration
• The U.S. State Department is accepting applications for the Diversity Visa Lottery from October 2 until December 1, 2008. As the detailed application procedures must be precisely followed, we urge eligible candidates to carefully review the instructions located at www.dvlottery.state.gov before electronically filing their applications.
Eligible applicants include natives of all countries, including Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan, except for the following:
• Brazil
• Canada
• China (mainland-born)
• Colombia
• Dominican Republic
• Ecuador
• El Salvador
• Guatemala
• Haiti
• India
• Jamaica
• Mexico
• Pakistan
• Philippines
• Peru
• Poland
• South Korea
• United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories
• Vietnam
